PPF

Paint Protection
Film.

Invisible, self-healing urethane film that takes the rock chips, sand blasting and UV load so your paint does not have to. Most valuable on the exact panels El Paso destroys first.

What PPF actually protects against here

PPF is a clear thermoplastic urethane film applied over your paint. It absorbs impacts that would otherwise chip, and minor scratches in the film close themselves with heat — a hot El Paso afternoon does the job on its own.

In this region PPF earns its cost faster than almost anywhere. I-10 and Loop 375 carry constant construction gravel. Spring winds push abrasive Chihuahuan Desert sand across every open stretch of highway, which is why so many El Paso vehicles have a sandblasted, hazy leading edge on the hood and mirrors by year three. And the same UV load that peels clear coats is filtered by good PPF.

Coverage options

  • Partial front — front bumper, roughly 18 to 24 inches of hood, and mirror caps. The best value package.
  • Full front — complete hood, full front bumper, both fenders, mirrors and headlights. No visible cut line across your hood.
  • Full vehicle — every painted panel, for new or high-value vehicles.
  • High-impact areas — rocker panels, rear wheel arches, door cups and door edges.
  • Headlight and fog light film — stops the yellowing and pitting that fails inspections.
  • Truck-specific — bed rails, tailgate cup and rocker protection for work trucks.

PPF, wrap or ceramic coating?

They solve different problems and they stack. PPF is physical impact protection — it is the only one that stops a rock chip. A vinyl wrap changes appearance and gives light protection, but it is thin and will not stop highway debris. Ceramic coating is chemical and hydrophobic; it makes washing easier and adds gloss but has effectively zero impact resistance. The strongest combination on a vehicle you intend to keep is PPF on the impact zones with a coating over the top. If your goal is a different color, wrap it; if your goal is keeping the paint you have, film it.

PPF goes on best over corrected paint. If there is existing damage we handle dent repair and refinishing first, then film over a clean surface.

A partial front (bumper, partial hood, mirrors) typically runs about $800 to $1,500. A full front is generally $1,500 to $2,500. Full-vehicle coverage usually starts around $5,000 and goes up with vehicle size and complexity. Price varies with how many pieces the panels require and how much prep the paint needs first.
Quality self-healing film lasts about 7 to 10 years. El Paso conditions push toward the shorter end of that range on horizontal panels because of UV intensity and heat. Good film will not yellow the way older generations did, but it will eventually need replacement.
On a proper install, essentially no. Modern film is optically clear and we wrap edges around panel lips so there is no visible line. On a full front there is no cut line across the hood at all. You may catch a faint edge on close inspection at certain angles, which is the tradeoff for a film that is doing its job.
More than in most cities. Constant highway construction gravel on I-10 and Loop 375, blowing desert sand in spring, and one of the highest UV loads in Texas mean unprotected front ends here pit and haze noticeably faster than the national average. If you plan to keep the vehicle more than three years or care about resale, the front-end package pays for itself.
Yes, when it is removed correctly with heat by someone who knows what they are doing, and when the underlying paint is factory or a properly cured repaint. The risk case is film applied over a cheap respray, which can lift with the film. We inspect the paint before we install and tell you if that is a concern.
