What proper collision repair involves

A modern vehicle is engineered to absorb a crash in a specific sequence. Crumple zones collapse, high-strength steel sections hold, and the safety cell keeps its shape. When a shop straightens a rail by eye or fills instead of replacing, that engineered sequence is gone — and you will not find out until the next impact.

We measure structural damage, straighten to published factory dimensions, and replace what is not designed to be repaired. Panels get aligned to correct gaps, not to whatever the clamps happen to produce.

Insurance: you choose the shop, not your adjuster

Under Texas Insurance Code §1952.301, your insurer cannot require you to use a specific repair facility. A "preferred" or "direct repair" shop is a shop that agreed to the insurer's pricing, which is not the same as the shop that is best for your vehicle. You get to pick. We handle the claim either way — documentation, supplements, adjuster negotiation — so you are not the one arguing about labor hours. Do I have to use the body shop my insurance company recommends?

No. In Texas you have the legal right to choose where your vehicle is repaired. Texas Insurance Code section 1952.301 prohibits an insurer from requiring a specific repair facility as a condition of settling your claim. Your insurer can recommend a shop, but the decision is yours. C&M Body Works works with every major carrier and handles the claim paperwork for you.

How long does collision repair take?

A minor bumper or single-panel repair is typically 2 to 3 days. Moderate damage involving several panels runs about a week. Structural repair with frame work and parts on order can take 2 weeks or more. We give you an estimated completion date once the vehicle is torn down and we can see the actual damage, and we update you if a supplement changes it.

Will you match my paint exactly?

Yes. We pull your vehicle's paint code, mix to formula, spray a test card, and blend into adjacent panels so there is no visible edge between old and new. Blending matters most on metallics and pearls, where a panel sprayed to code alone can still read slightly different in El Paso sunlight.

Do you offer a warranty on collision repair?

Yes. We back our workmanship for as long as you own the vehicle. Parts carry their own manufacturer warranty. The workmanship warranty covers our repair and refinish work; it does not cover new damage, normal wear, or failures caused by a prior repair somewhere else.

What if my insurance estimate is lower than your estimate?

That is routine and it is not your problem to solve. Initial insurance estimates are written from photos and almost always miss damage that only appears at teardown. We document what we find, submit a supplement with photos, and negotiate directly with the adjuster. In most cases the supplement is approved and you still only owe your deductible.
