How the comprehensive claim works

Hail falls under comprehensive coverage. That generally means no fault is assigned to you, comprehensive deductibles are often lower than collision deductibles, and a single weather claim usually has less rate impact than an at-fault collision — though you should confirm the specifics with your own carrier, because policies differ. If you carry liability only, hail is not covered and the repair is out of pocket.

How hail damage gets repaired

Most hail damage is repaired with paintless dent repair, working the metal back from behind the panel without touching your factory paint. That is faster, cheaper and better for resale than filling and refinishing. PDR stops being an option when the paint is cracked, when the dent sits on a sharp body line, or when the metal is stretched past recovery — then the panel needs conventional repair and refinishing. Why local matters after a storm

Out-of-state hail repair operations follow storms, set up in a parking lot or hotel lot, take the insurance proceeds and leave. Preventing the next one

Covered parking is the only real prevention.
